It is indeed a matter of pleasure and pride to be a part in development, growth and achievement of Kumudini Nursing College (KNC).
Kumudini Nursing College plays a significant role in rendering medical service to the country by providing efficient nurses of good quality. Like every other endeavor of the Trust, this has a strong philanthropic underpinning, with many destitute and distressed widows being trained as nurses who were working in the hospital during the initial days.
When Kumudini Hospital started its operation in the early forties, it was inevitable that well-trained nurses were required to maintain the high standards of the hospital. Initially foreign nurses were brought in while local destitute women were trained or rehabilitated as hospital workers. Abandoned or widowed women from poor families in the village were trained to assist the nurses available. Kumudini Nursing School was established 1973. It offers a three year Diploma in Nursing course for 50 students and one and a half year Junior Midwifery course for 20 students every year. Eligibility for these courses is SSC.
